Joel, as you just found out, this is not a KOA corporate issue, but an individual park issue.

But I'm going to suggest to KOA Corporate that they institute a KOA-wide express check-in program based on the loyalty membership program they already have in place. Since they already have an a phone app, they also have the basis for mobile check-in. All they would have to do is put guest folders in a rack where you could pick them up when you pull in. Then, one of the staff could escort you to your site.

That would work ok in parks that have the driveway space and personnel to manage it, but what about the parks with a single wide entry and there are several rigs in front of you? KOA corporate can suggest it, but I don't think they'll be able to mandate it.

I'm with Joel. I appreciate a quick and informative check in. As a matter of fact, when I review a campground I usually start out with how well the check in went. I do like to be told the basics about the park and anything that might be unusual but that's all..

Staff can be trained on how to cope with anyone checking in that becomes long winded. There are ways to terminate these type of conversations without being rude. A simple......We can talk about this forever but there are people waiting. If you like, I can stop by when I have some free tine and we can discuss further is one way that I have observed.

I have no problem waiting my turn to be served but I do become offended when folks are allowed to ramble on. An express line for folks that have reserved shouldn't be difficult to implement and it should be a right.

If the one countries' RV Parks can be classified into just one APP, and updates the latest information frequently, I think it will not be a big problem for the RVers to make a reservations like the hotel in the near future. But it still takes some time and energy to go.

Apparently Doc has it all figured out. RV Parks are no different than hotels, I would never have guessed. It is simple to just add employees to cover peak periods of activity. Cancellation fees are not necessary. Sounds great.
Hopefully he can expand his wisdom to other businesses. Airlines don't need those cancellation fees any more than RV Parks. Surely, if the local RV Park can add employees at a moment's notice to cover surges in check ins, Walmart and Kroger can have staff standing by to make sure I never anyone in front of me at the check out lines. And maybe he can even draw up a list of appropriate vs inappropriate requests since apparently asking for a site with certain hookups is definitely proper, asking if it is satellite friendly is sometimes OK and asking for a site facing a certain direction is a personal problem, not the parks. It is a shame that the only people who don't have a clue how to operate a RV Park are the people that own them.

Actually, airlines don't charge cancellation fees if you pay more for your ticket. And lots of hotels price rooms the same way. If you want the absolutely cheapest deal on Kayak or Trivago you may have to pay in advance with no changes or refunds permitted. Want a more flexible deal? Then pay a bit more for it. I don't see any reason why RV parks couldn't price sites the same way.

Thanks Ron. We'll do our best to watch out for all the crazies. And if there is a check in line when we get there we'll just pop open a gallon plastic jug of our favorite fresh brewed Meadow Vista Red Cab, grab a flex straw and start doing some serious sucking until it be our turn to get checked in.......... :D

    Regards, Terry..............(aka BankShot)
