USA Texas, Tennessee, Yellowstone & San Diego Trip May 2023

    So it begins…..
    After 15.5 hours on a plane from Australia we made it…..wow that is a LONG flight by any stretch of the imagination but we made it. I’ve always known that Americans are the most engaging, positive and accepting people I’ve ever know but Texans are the next level.
    By the way…..I get its a bit unusual in this area with my accent……it’s a VERY broad Australian accent……but I’m not English……. Really

    Day 1 was arriving in Dallas Fort Worth after 15 hours. Can I commend DFW and the hire car companies for how easy you make it.
    To the hotel whilst still experiencing the symptoms of shell shock, I get to say that because I was in the Royal Australian Artillery, we booked into our hotel and had a great walk around Arlington Mall. American people are the most welcoming and friendly people I have ever met. Texans take it to the next level.
    So day 2 was this amazing little out of the way diner for Steak & Eggs plus break quesadillas …shout out to pioneer diner Arlington awesome then to the George Bush Presidential Library followed by Fantasy of Flight Museum. what an amazing place followed by a great time at Globe life Field watching the Rangers.
    On the way back finally got a pair of real cowboy boots to replace my RM Williams and then back to the Accomodation for dinner and a rest.
    Day 3 Fort Worth Stockyards report to come.

    Glad you're enjoying yourself here! I've been to all the sites you mentioned, and know them well. if you have time in Dallas/Ft. Worth, check out the 6th Floor museum, from where president Kennedy was shot.

    Glad you arrived safely and are ready for a great adventure that is ahead. Made that long flight many times in the past when I was employed and not taking advantage of my retirement years. Am looking forward to your call and if you could/would give me a head's up, either on this thread or by a PM, as to what time you might make that call I will be sure to be home and not out somewhere causing trouble...:D

    Day 2 Dallas. A drive to the historic district, Dealy Plaza and the Texas Book Depository museum. Very well done and makes you think.
    Then finally dinner at a Texas Steakhouse.
