Tip for Other Campers:
Trees near sites need trimming. We had some small branches touching our slide-out. Fairmont is 10-15 minutes away with hardware stores, grocery stores and gas stations. The entrance to the park is at the Truck Writers Insurance sign then turn left. The drive is shared by the campground and the insurance company...

Tips from campers about Checkers Welcome Campground
- Mtbark Harrisburg is not too far away if you need something quick, there is a Wal-Mart in Truman but if you really want to shop Jonesboro will be your best bet. We used Lake Poinsett as our base to visit, Hampson Archeological Museum State Park, Johnny Cash Boyhood Home, Herman Davis State Park, Jacksonport State Park and get a bike ride in at Craighead Park in Jonesboro.2 months ago Lake Poinsett State Park
