“Wide open with no reservation in March ”

We used Bluewater SP as a night stop during our March trip to Arizona.. Wide open.. Non-resident improved site with electric was $30. Nice hiking.. Well mapped. I'll stop and use this NM State Park...

“No water”

We camped in the lower electric loop in site 9. Somehow I must have overlooked the fact that the campground does NOT have water at the camp sites. When we were there, the showers were not working...

Tips from campers about Bluewater Lake State Park
- Dennis_189 We drove to Grants (on Historic Rte 66 rather than the I-40) for groceries at Smith's, other supplies at Walmart. One of the Allsup's Convenience stores in town has Amazon lockers. Since this was our first visit to the area in a long time, we stopped at the NM Mining Museum/Visitor Center/Chamber of Commerce, the El Malpais Visitor Center, and the Forest service office (Mt Taylor Ranger district) to gather maps and information to help make the most of our time here. Haystack Mountain is a short drive from the campground on a paved road where you can see beautiful red rock formations. Capri Laundromat in Grants is nice - and has free usage of dryers on certain weekdays. On recommendation from local residents, we had one meal each at El Cafecito in Grants and El Ranchero Cafe in Milan, enjoyed both.8 months ago Bluewater Lake State Park

“Great views and generally clean ”
Nightly Rate: $14 USD
Currently, there are no facilities open, which is not good. Most of the sites are not level had to Attempt two sites before the third one and it took three goes to find a level spot on that one.......

“No Cell Service”

This park needs help! There was absolutely no showers available. The visitors center was all locked up and no one around for help the 4 days we were here. A ranger drove through a few times a day....

Since check-in isn't until 4 pm, are there possible open areas around the park that we could tuck in our RV and "chill" while waiting for our site to open? Thanks!...

Great...will come back to visit again. We camped at Bluewater Lake State Park in a Motorhome.
