Tips from campers about Anacortes, WA

  • MilesKB They NO NOT have shower facilities or laundry on site. Also, there are no dedicated RVr restrooms, however, there are restrooms in the Casino which is close enough if you need them. They have the coolest Dog parks I have seen. There are two adjacent gated areas with one designated for Large breeds and the other for Small and Medium breeds. I don't have a dog, but that seemed clever and thoughtful. There is also a great walking path along the train tracks. The tracks are only used by the local refinery, so maybe once every couple of days there will be a train. Check the site descriptions and pick your spot according to your needs and pay the $8.00 fee to reserve it. It just makes things easier. As I had done everything online, I just pulled in, got set up, and then went over and "checked in."
  • Dog Island Skagit transit runs bus service to the Washington State ferry to the San Juans.
  • JamesE24 Bring your bikes! You can ride the bike path all the way into downtown and bike around the town. Make sure you stop in the Grocery to try some muffins. And also Pelican Bay Bookstore! They have a huge selection of half price books and also a delicious little coffee bar inside. Washington Park is gorgeous and fun to walk around. And dont forget to go to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings!
