Tips from campers about Oak Mountain State Park Equestrian Camping
- AndyHare84 Do not follow the GPS directions - it will take you 8-10 miles out of the away to back entrance. Instead, take I65 exit 246 Hwy 119 Cahaba Valley Road. Go south on 119 and take immediate left on to oak mtn state park road. Follow signs and park entrance is less than 2 miles; equestrian campground is just beyond the main gate. Oak mtn state park road was recently widened and paved - super easy in and out with large Motorhomes. Finally, equestrian campground, being so close to main gate and Hwy 119 and I65, gives you access to MANY restaurants, grocery, hardware/home stores, etc.
- Annfan Super Walmart in Pelham about 20 minutes. Gates clise at night and GPS kept taking us to closed campground park entrance...need to come in main gate (15 miles south) if after dark...3 months ago Oak Mountain State Park Equestrian Camping
