Tip for Other Campers:

Have to drive about 30 minutes for serious grocery store (little market near entrance) so shop before you get there and have water!! Its dry and hot and breezy/windy. Sucks the water right out of you!

This was our 4th night in the park after staying at Cottonwood and Jumbo Rocks. This was a great site. We really enjoyed the privacy at night once the day-use rock climbers left. The atmosphere was...

Tip for Other Campers:

It is super hot in this park. You will want to make sure you check if your tent/rv will be in direct sunlight all of the time. There is no shade. This is a rock climbing park at its heart.

Tips from campers about Indian Cove Campground

  • Katmandoo The Cody Museum has 5 museums in it and your ticket can be purchased for two consecutive days. There is a little Cody Heritage museum that is small but worth visiting. Make sure you visit Old Trail Town, where they have either brought in old cabins or reconstructed cabins that the pioneers, trappers and other people lived in. Jeremiah Johnston is buried there. (Robert Redford portrayed him in the movie Jeremiah Johnson) If you are looking for scenic drives you must drive Beartooth Scenic Drive that goes up into Montana. Don't get suckered into stopping and buying anything at the "Top of the World" stop over. It is quite expensive, but a place to stop and see. You can drive the Bighorn Scenic drive if you have a day. And Shell Creek Falls and scenic Drive. There is the Buffalo Bill dam, Buffalo Bill state park, The Heart Mountain Interpretive Center where the Japanese were housed during WWII. So much to see in and around Cody. You can also drive to Yellowstone on a scenic byway.
  • fmahaffay Don't miss the rodeo which is held every night during the months of June, July and August. Adult tickets are only $23 for a great evening of entertainment. The restaurants in the area have excellent food and atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. Go to Trail Town and take in the "gun fight" on the street next to the famous Irma Hotel. There are many things to do in Cody for adults and families.
  • Ktcoloradoinfl The town of Cody is fun and welcoming. Good food, hospitable. Stay away from the "gun show" -- don't waste your time -- but do see the Dam (just a short drive away), the rodeo (what fun!), the multiple scenic drives in the area, a museum of buried guns (recovered) which my husband really enjoyed, the visitor's center -- great people, informative! The museums, of course. And yellowstone isn't very far away (an hour's drive more or less). All in all a very nice place to stay and if we come back to this area, we will definitely book here again.
