Riding a bike along the Newton B Drury Parkway was a wonderful way to experience the Redwoods. The ride out to Fern Canyon on our bikes was doable, but pretty rough....

Tips from campers about Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Elk Prairie Campground
- User2057 The sites need to be reserved well in advance, especially on weekends.
- Stiles Must do is to hike the trails in the pack and around the area. Many are only a few files long and you are among the largest redwoods you will ever see. Quite an experience.
- Jim Biermann Riding a bike along the Newton B Drury Parkway was a wonderful way to experience the Redwoods. The ride out to Fern Canyon on our bikes was doable, but pretty rough.

“Quiet Park”
Nightly Rate: $45 USD
This is a quiet park, park staff were friendly. Mostly summer workers, not real knowledgeable of area ( most I spoke to were new to area to attend CalPoly/Humboldt college )No cell reception....

Tip for Other Campers:
Bring your own food & drinks. Maybe one or two snack shacks in the town of Orick.Trinidad is about 20 minutes away. Still quite limited dining options. Many hiking trails. No dogs allowed except pretty much where cars can go.The elk are beautiful and majestic! Did everything we wanted to do within 2 days....

This should be a TENT ONLY campground! Paved services on many sites are so old, the redwood trunks have grown over paved surfaces. Even our 16 ft RV did NOT fit! There is is no dump station on site....
