“Steam train to Silverton Passes Campground, many campers flock out to watch and wave! ”
Nightly Rate: $86 USD
We were there one night. It is convenient to town and is well located. We spoke with a few people, while watching the trains, and many use this campground on a regular basis. This campground closes...

“Beautiful park with trolley service going in and out of town was great!”

Park was clean with flat parking for the motorhome. Good spacing between others. Drive into site without backing in was nice. Loved the Durango/Silverton train running through the park. Easy bike ride...

Tips from campers about United Campground of Durango
- BT3927 There are a few hiking trails leading to the lake and one that leads to a natural bridge. We hiked to the bridge. The trail and hike were pleasant even though it was a bit hot and muggy as we descended down into the gorge where the bridge is located. The natural bridge itself however was a bit underwhelming.6 months ago Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area
- Ingine Jumping Off Rock Overlook is a short distance away, and although a slow drive, but well worth it.2 years ago Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area
- RobertN Issaqueena Falls/Stumphouse is close by and is worth the visit. $5 parking fee (cash). Also nearby is Hagood Mill Historic Site, which is a very nice (free) site and includes Hagood Creek Petroglyph Site - which is why we visited.5 years ago Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area

“NO computerized system and NO email confirmations - must call to do anything”
Nightly Rate: $80 USD
Rather archaic in today's world to a) not have a computerized booking system and b) not even send an email confirmation. I ended up calling twice to book and pay a deposit - they were kind enough to...

Tip for Other Campers:
Go to Oxbow Park just down the road for river access and the lovely Riverside Trail that runs all the way into town 7.2 miles is full length of the trail. The town trolley comes to the campground as well so lots of convenience if you don't wanna drive into town or want to bike into town. Trolley runs every 15 minutes (except for currently due to...
