Tip for Other Campers:
We recommend hiking the many trails around the campground, although my husband's attempt to mountain bike on the Rainbow Trail didn't go so well (extremely rough and rocky in places). We enjoyed the park at the Smoky Jack Observatory, Sugar and Spice Mountain Bakery, and Tumbleweed Coffee shop in Westcliffe; breakfast was very good at the Silver Cliff...

Nice little campground, easy to get to, quality sites. Highly recommend. We camped at San Isabel National Forest - Alvarado Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips from campers about San Isabel National Forest - Alvarado Campground
- TXcampermom We recommend hiking the many trails around the campground, although my husband's attempt to mountain bike on the Rainbow Trail didn't go so well (extremely rough and rocky in places). We enjoyed the park at the Smoky Jack Observatory, Sugar and Spice Mountain Bakery, and Tumbleweed Coffee shop in Westcliffe; breakfast was very good at the Silver Cliff Mountain Inn and Restaurant. For a scenic drive head east on 96 toward Pueblo; if you turn south onto 165 it takes you through the San Isabel NF past Bishop Castle (interesting tourist attraction) to Lake Isabel.

This is our second year back at Alvarado. We stayed here in a travel trailer.This is a beautiful campground with lot of trees and nice views of the mountains. We were a little disappointed this year...

This is a wonderful campground if you are interested in hiking,mountain biking, lovely scenery and enjoy dry camping. Water is available but you can not connect hoses. I filled up before I arrived....
