This is our second time staying at Suwanee River Bend RV Park, and though it was a short one week stay this time, we again had a nice time. We were again in a back in spot with a patio (this one...

“Way down upon the Suwannee was GREAT!”

We really had a positive time at Suwannee River Bend. The people were nice and the site was clean and comfortable. We were able to use the boat launch to use our kayak to float on the Suwannee and...

Tip for Other Campers:
We drove to Suwannee and ate at the newly, reopened Salt Creek Restaurant. The service was adequate but the food was really good and the portion sizes were quite filling.
Tips from campers about Suwannee River Bend RV Park
- SSanders Sites are big rig-friendly but long rigs towing long vehicles will probably want/need to unhook before heading to to a site. We are 40 ft and towing Ford F-150. Total length approx. 60 ft. Turns would have been fine for rig only but tight with tow. Easier just to unhook. Good thing is that Joe will tell you if you are going to need to unhook. Only discount is military but to get it, you need to ask for it when you make the reservation. Ate at three restaurants, each with different ambiance and decidedly different menus. All outstanding. The Barbecue Shack, just down the road from the campground. Do not let the exterior put you off. May look like a dive on the outside but great BBQ inside! Tender and juicy pulled pork and brisket. Great baked beans, crispy hot French fries and southern-style green beans. Big portions. Leftovers to take home. Suwannee Belle. Literally a 5-min drive. Turn right out of the park and right at the next street. Across the inlet from the park. Lower deck is outdoors and dog friendly. Has its own bar, live music and laid back atmosphere. Many fans keep it cool and the bugs away. Lots of friendly locals gathered for a good time. Shrimp and grits - some of the best this southern girl has ever had. Great fried shrimp and the fried oysters were tender and so juicy. Loved the cole slaw. Really crunchy. If you have never had fried gator, get the appetizer. If you love fried gator, get the appetizer. 45-min drive to Cedar Key worth the time. Quaint little old Florida fishing village. Everybody was super friendly. Go to Duncans-on-the Gulf and have the shrimp pie! If you are lucky you will have our waitress. Dog friendly outside. Did not have time to go to Fanning State Park (10 min away)but everyone says it is beautiful, the springs are wonderful and it has a cool waterfall. Going to go when we stay on our way back home. Lots more to do, according to other reviews. Wish we could have stayed longer.2 years ago Suwannee River Bend RV Park
- Lunarkk Fanning Springs and Manatee Springs right down the Street. Paynes Prairie was a 45 minute drive but recommended by the couple in the next site and it was amazing! Bike trails, hiking, massive amounts of wildlife - cranes, snail kites, bison, wild horses, bald eagles, alligators, limpets, herons, egrets, ibis.. and those were just the ones we spotted in a 3 hour visit! We did Bolen Bluff for big animals and La Chua trail for many birds and gators. Also trail behind the visitors center for cranes. Lots of local antique stores and good restaurants- just as at the office for reviews and recommendations Cedar Key - what a wonderful old Florida town! Fishing village that has not given in to tourism. Great seafood and lots of artists stores in this historic town. Go to the Tiki Bar at Low Key Hideaway for a stunning sunset.2 years ago Suwannee River Bend RV Park

“It's very close the Fanning Spring State Park, practically next door.”
Nightly Rate: $46 USD
This is a nice park. It's mostly dirt and gravel. Our site was right on the water with a new deck and chairs over the water, pretty nice. There were new decks all along the shoreline for anyone to...

Tip for Other Campers:
Take a 10mi drive to Manatee Springs and hike out to the docks on the river. It's a neat environment with a recently renovated wooden walkway over the marshes. Swimming is allowed at the spring. $6/car to enter.
“Way down upon the Suwanee River...”
Nightly Rate: $27 USD
We chose a site on the river with a "deck" Beautiful old oak trees. It was very quiet and conveniently located. We camped at Suwannee River Bend RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Tip for Other Campers:
Go to Off the Beet in Trenton for a delicious meal-you can even take the bike trail. Fanning Springs is walking distance.
