- Nick86 Fargo ND is only one hour away and definitely a good day trip. If you enjoy history and museums, go check out Bonanzaville. In Detroit Lakes, a Walmart and Aldi are only minutes from the park entrance. We broke our drive to PEI in two and stayed at Cottonwood overnight. It was perfect for our stay. We camped at Cottonwood Camping & RV PArk in a Travel Trailer.
