The base is small! Very small exchange and commissary. One or two food trucks outside. Not much outside base either.
Tips from campers about Shields RV Park
- senseisha The Biltmore is about 15-20 minutes away. Tanger and other shopping and restaurants can be found on Brevard Road. There is a Chinese Buffet, which was really good, and Pappas and Beer, a wonderful Mexican restaurant with lunches for $9.99. - DennisPet We did not get to do many things in the area due to closed roads and flooding. The Vanderbilt Mansion cancelled our reservations for our tour. Site 73, concrete pad, full hook-up, picnic table. Very nice individual shower/toilet. We camped at Shields RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Level sites; full hook ups, military only. Super friendly staff who helped us out when we were in a bind. Base had a lake, theater. Park & bx. We camped at Shields RV Park in a Motorhome.
