Tips from campers about Dixon Landing RV Resort
- Travel Quest Garys, the local seafood restaurant, was a find! Excellent seafood. So good we ate there twice. From the park you can access many areas along the coast to take fishing tours, sunset cruises, walk the beach, shop, etc. It was about 90 minutes (and 2 ferry rides) to reach the Cape Lookout National Park and lighthouse; the ferry dropped us off for 2 hours to walk the beach, hike, and view the wild horses on nearby Harkers Island. The Rachel Carson Wildlife Reserve is also in this area near Beaufort. The campground is a short distance to the Minnesott ferry which crosses the Neuse river and drops you at Havelock. MCAS Cherry Point is perhaps 20 minutes from there.11 months ago Dixon Landing RV Resort
- Joan Muller Close to New Bern, and Oriental. Love Gary's Oyster Bar in Arapahoe. Abby's subs in Bayboro. Annabells in New Bern. New Bern is a cute little city with quaint shops, lots to do there. Flagship Harris Teeter store in New Bern, is huge and great selection. There is a Food Lion down the road. The resort is new and still under construction, in the process of adding a bathhouse and small laundry. 40 sites right now, adding more remote sites, with quad and sites being added throughout the woods. I stayed in January and it was cold. The water was turned off (I knew it would be, so took extra water). No sewer hookups, but they did have a mobile collection for tanks. Bathrooms were wonderful....
