Get up early, pack a lunch, and drive into Olympic National Park and go up to Hurricane Ridge for a picnic. Upon arrival, go direct to your site and then come back to register/pay/check-in....

Tips from campers about Fort Townsend Historical State Park
- Hiwaysbyways If you're going to visit Gatlinburg, or Pigeon Forge, stay closer to town because this place is a very long way out of town.
- wadebbi Go into Newport to get groceries, urgent care, drug store, or a regular priced meal.
- Chaps_out_camping Both downtown Gatlinburg, and pigeon Forge are convenient. I would recommend a drive-through smoky Mountain national Park, and Cades Cove. If youre looking for some places to hike, there are plenty along these two routes!

Really nice peaceful campground in the forest. The sites are private with plenty of space between them. A bit of a long walk down to the beach but it's worth it. HOWEVER...do not pull a travel trailer...
