The park is about 45 minutes from Key West and 25 minutes from Marathon. We visited the Turtle Hospital and Aquarium Encounters in Marathon. Both were enjoyable and educational. We strongly recommend enjoying nature in the park. For other activities, Sarasota is just 15 minutes away and Siesta Key Beach is 30-45 minutes away. You can find nice restaurants and plenty to do in these areas.

We only ventured out from the resort one time during our stay. We ran out of milk, and the onsite country store did not carry it. Had to travel 18-20 miles away to find a store. The resort location is in an isolated area and Lake Wales, the nearest town is about 30 minutes away.

Tip for Other Campers:
We visited the Gulf Island National Seashore. During a day trip along 30A, we found Stinky's Restaurant in Santa Rosa Beach - definitely worth the trip. We also ate at Dewy's Destin Navarre and liked it as well.
