No. Campground has the road and then the Lajitas Resort and then the river. Not an issue. Only issue we had was the campground is in a bowl so campfire smoke sticks around and it is a long way to get groceries ;-). Beautiful area, well worth the trip as long as you do it in the fall or early spring....

I had no problems and heard of none.. Also since I winter in the rgv/deep deep south TX and are about 1 mile from the boarder after 9 years I have had no problems and have never heard of any problems......

I sensed absolutely no danger whatsoever. The area is safe, beautiful and clean. I feel more unsafe on the streets of Charleston, South Carolina or Louisville, Kentucky than I do in Lajitas, for comparison....

Proximity to the border should be no issue for you! The campsite is wonderful, although a distance from the NP. We actually took a kayak tour on the river in that area and really experienced the border first hand. No worries....

Haha, no. We spent about nine weeks in close proximity to the border, and never had any reason to worry. Everyone in the borderlands are friendly and helpful and Big Bend was phenomenal....

There are big cliffs and deserts in this area. We saw no sign of this when we were there. There is a place on the other side of Big Bend National Park where you can go into Mexico via a rowboat by a local. But that is more that they are trying to attract tourists rather than them coming to USA....

This park is perfectly safe. It is an area that gets very few crossings. Enjoy the beautiful area....

Understand that the illegals do not want to interact with you any more than you want to interact with them. We saw one suspicious person on the Mexican side while we were kayaking the river. He quickly retreated from view. We have been coming to this RV park for 6 years. It's perfectly safe. Come on down! But bring your supplies with you, it's very remote :-)...

If this is a concern for you, you should not come here. Stay in the big city and lock your doors. Bear in mind, that many people around here are Mexican and you see and meet them everywhere. They cross the (official) border crossings regularly and my wife and I have crossed the border a couple of times and love it on the other side of the imaginary wall. Go to Boquillas del Carmen and take the row boat across the Rio Grande to Mexico from the Boquillas Crossing border station in Big Bend National Park. Lots of fun. Great people. Great food. Great tequilas, too! If you are a worry-wart, then stay away. If you like to experience different cultures, then this is a great way to start. As an aside, have been staying at Maverick Ranch RV Park for 2 years in a row. 3 Months each time and will return for another 3 months during the 2020/2021 winter season. Love the dark skies policy. No outdoor lights allowed after 9 PM to assure that you can appreciate the stars when you venture outside at...
