      You won't be swimming in November so that part of the question is moot. I kayacked all round the campground shore and saw no gators. You should be fine....

      Speaking in general, alligators (unlike crocodiles) are mostly cowards and hunt smaller, easier to catch things than adult humans. They are fearful of humans and if they are out of the water they slide in where they feel safer when you paddle by. They generally hang out in areas far from where boats regularly go by. They are most active at sunrise and sunset. They can be particularly aggressive and unpredictable during mating season which is around June. In November, it will cool enough that they will most likely be in a semi torpid state, sleeping deep in the water, or sunning, and not the least bit interested in bothering someone in a kayak. All that being said, there have been rare cases of alligators attacking kayaks so paddle in pairs. Check with locals about fishing from the kayak. If they do, then you can. If they don't, there is a reason they don't. As for fishing on the bank, alligators do not rush up the bank to attack like crocodiles. They attack in shallow water at the...
