Absolutely safe. Just board the DC metro bus from bus station that is inside the Cherry Hills Campground. It's safe and inexpensive....

The areas around the attractions are safe and there is a heavy police presence. Stay away from the obvious homeless encampments and you'll have no worries....

Absolutely, yes. I say that as someone who lived in DC for many years. The parts of the city where there are attractions are completely safe daytime and into the late evening....

ABSOLUTELY! Everything is open. Go and have a GRAND time! We walked everywhere (the circular was on strike in May). Never ever felt unsafe riding the buses or trains....

We found it very safe on the National Mall and surrounding blocks. This is a large metropolitan city. Like all cities of this size you should be aware of your surroundings. Take the bus service from the RV park to the National Mall, enjoy all the attractions. It will be waiting for you a couple times a day to return to the park....
