I don’t think Cloudland is any different. There are black bears all up and down the mountains. Just normal bear precautions and get out there and enjoy the beautiful trails in Cloudland. They also have a great ranger-led hiking program on tree identification....

No mention was made where we stayed on east rim. But, like most rural campgrounds, it is prudent to clean up and put up food items away from investigators such as in the rv, car or bed of pickup...

I believe the same precautions you would take while camping at the Smokies would be similar at Cloudland. We always kept food in the camper or car. Not to say they are not around however; we did not see any while camping. If it is a concern, I would recommend calling the Park Office directly....

I doubt there are any bear issues as the trash cans are not bear proof. No mention is made of bears. Hikers told me they have never seen a bear. That's not to say that you shouldn't be prudent and clean up all food....
