• Question:

I am looking at a 2025 trip to Yellowstone, my parents would be renting a small Class C sized motorhome coming from Washington State and I would be towing my 382MBQ Gold from Texas. Looking for options on great places where we could camp together for several nights. It does not have to be inside the park. Would like to have 50A, Water, and sewer hookups at the sites (my parents don't camp or travel much). What would you recommend? We have no problem driving into the park and/or visiting other parks while here for this once in a lifetime trip with my folks....

If you camp inside the park you avoid long lines and delays getting in to the park each day. Fishing Bridge RV Park is about 45 minutes away from Old Faithful or the Norris Geyser basin. It has everything you need in the way of hookups but all spots in the lower section are back in and some are tighter than others to get in. You may not be able to camp side by side with your parents....

I stayed at fishing bridge last fall 2024, booked a year out. Great location for visiting and avoiding lines. We stayed in the renovated section that are all pull throughs if I remember correctly. Full hookups, very open, but we didn’t stay in the rv, out every day for long drives and scenery....

In Park - My first choice would always be Fishing Bridge. It's in-park and full hookup. You can't select a specific site so there would be no guarantee that you and your parents would be able to get adjoining sites, but I'm sure they'd do their best. Just be sure that you reserve in the new loop, Loop E. The older loops are a pain for anything longer than 25 ft. It's not as centrally located as, say, Canyon Village, but it is a beautiful drive no matter which way you go with plenty to see while you're getting where you're going to.West Entrance - We've also stayed at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone. It's a very nice clean park but the drive into the park is a hassle with long lines. It's also 14 miles to the Grand Loop Rd. That may not sound like much, but it's 35 mph and there are frequent slowdowns for looky-loos and wildlife. It can often take 45 mins to drive that 14 miles.North Entrance -We haven't stayed at Yellowstone RV Park in Gardiner MT, but...

CON'T but have dumped there. It's a nice 'basic' park. It's about 5 miles to Mammoth Hot Springs and the northern parts of the park, including Lamar Valley (best wildlife watching)I'm assuming you have a crew cab for touring. Hopefully you'll all fit in your rig. YNP roads aren't made for sightseeing in a motorhome, even a small C class. If you all won't fit in your rig my advice would be to either rent a van for touring or for your folks to rent a car and follow you around. YNP is HUGE. And the speed limit is 35/40 mph. The Grand Loop Rd is 150 miles of 2 lane blacktop with frequent pullouts. There can be long 'bear/bison jams and lots to see so you'll want to give yourself a lot of time per day and more than just a couple days if you want to see it all. Also, if you do stay outside the park, factor in your drive back to your RV park and do NOT drive after dark. YNP is wonderful, we've been 9 times and are going again next year. You'll have a wonderful time. Just don't try to...

I echo Fishing Bridge. I have stayed there 11 times in 15 years but I've learned you have to make your reservation in January otherwise it is hit or miss. Some friends stayed West Yellowstone in a commercial campground but that creates problems. To limit traffic if you are not staying overnight in the park you must have a daily park entry reservation. Only Fishing Bridge has 50A FHU sites, there are many dry camping campgrounds but they have a 30' limit....
