This should definitely NOT be described as an RV resort, more like an extremely aged trailer park (OLD campers poorly made to look like park models). We planned to stay for 2 months but left after 1...

“This is not a RV resort”
Nightly Rate: $52 USD
The place is an old park. It's not an RV Resort. It's mostly mobile homes. Alot are old and not kept up. The website and pictures are deceptive. They don't have cable and the wifi really sucks. The...

Tips from campers about Ponderosa RV Resort
- wrduhrt There are two restaurants on the pier just below the RV Park. The town of Avila is only a couple of minutes away and has some local food options. There are tons of food options within a 10-20-minute drive from the RV park. Be prepared for the possibility of high winds. There was always a breeze, but the winds were very noticeable in the trailer on two of the three nights.1 week ago Flying Flags Avila Beach
- Gary_106 If you have dogs, the shreded redwood bark is very invasive, bring dog brushes and brooms for your RV floor. The weather can be VERY COLD when the wind blows, and it does blow every week. Bring extra jackets and blankets for watching the sunset with the fire pit. We had 45 MPH gusts in March for two days, made us wish we didnt have slide out topper awnings. There isnt much to do in Avila Beach, its a tiny town and some of the restaurants are seasonal. There is a fantastic basic seafood restaurant at the end of the pier, called Merseas. Any type of seafood grilled, sauted, or blackened, I have included a picture of their menu. Bring a jacket the outside seating can get very cold when the wind is blowing. The seal lions are very entertaining while you are eating. Dont go to the other Port Luis restaurant Fat Cats, very ordinary food, we had four different disappointing dishes. There is a great coffee store in Avila beach1 month ago Flying Flags Avila Beach
- DannyB1 Great dog beach just below park. Not a lot of facilities for kids. A pier and two restaurants just below park. Local towns with restaurants and wineries near by. Easy to navigate to. Located on a steep hillside that has been terraced. The Cracked Crab in Pismo Beach and The Lure in San Luis Obispo3 months ago Flying Flags Avila Beach

The area is a nice, cool place to spend the summer. The park has a considerable number of residents and older units but they are kept neat and clean. There are a few pull thru sites left available for...

At first we weren't too impressed because the park is sort of rambling and about 80% mobile homes or permanently placed RVs. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean...

We took the advice of JRAK's review from one year prior and booked our long 4th of July week-end at the Ponderosa RV Resort. The place and residents were great. Friendly, welcoming and very helpful....
