We stayed here 6 nights at the beginning of September. We were in PT site 48 which is grass (as are most if not all the sites) near the office. We were concerned about the proximity to the office and...

Tip for Other Campers:

Go the "back way" if you are just going into town. There is a one way bridge just a couple of blocks from the RV park that will take you downtown with far less traffic. We take the RV because we don't like to eat out all the time. But we did go out one time while in Revelstoke to The Village Idiot Bar and Grill. We had pizza and it was pretty good....

When we arrived I realized there was no communal dumping station, but they changed my booking in minutes for a full service site. It only cost 3.15 CAD more - what a bargain. We camped at Lamplighter...

Tips from campers about Lamplighter Campground

  • Mike & Laurie MacKenzie Street downtown is about 3 blocks long with shops and restaurants. Enchanted Forest was super fun for adults and kids. Little kids would go nuts with happiness. Take the drive in Mount Revelstoke NP to the top for some short hikes. BC Forest Museum and the Dam were both interesting. Check hours of restaurants. Quite a few open in late afternoon.
  • DG1 Ideal location for visiting Mt Revelstoke National park and Glacier National park and Rogers pass summit 60km up the road - both offering a range of sights and trails. If travelling in early summer note that there may be snow remaining -for us in early July the full Meadows in the Sky parkway was only open up to KM 12, and some of the trails at Rogers Pass were blocked by snow. Nevertheless amazing scenery and trails were still available. Sorensen trail at Revelstoke is easy 2 or 5km loop and pleasant. Trail to Marion Lake at Rogers Pass is a tough long climb but view is worth it.
  • BillReno Go the "back way" if you are just going into town. There is a one way bridge just a couple of blocks from the RV park that will take you downtown with far less traffic. We take the RV because we don't like to eat out all the time. But we did go out one time while in Revelstoke to The Village Idiot Bar and Grill. We had pizza and it was pretty good. The burgers also looked good. The service was excellent. We went grocery shopping. There are two stores in town. There is Save On Foods near the visitor center (we did not go there so I cannot comment). And there is Southside Market which is a little further from the campground but seems like the place where locals go. The parking is a bit small but the we were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the store was. They have a little bit of everything. Revelstoke Park is great. Drive Meadows in the Sky Parkway to the top then there a hiking trails. Also in a different area of the park is Giant Cedars Boardwalk which is an easy hike. Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk was not worth the stop (but I'm not sure the whole thing is reopened). Glacier National Park is an easy drive from here. The Revelstoke is about 10 min drive away and quite interesting. We went to Revelstoke Mountain Resort and rode the mountain coaster and took the scenic gondola ride. Both were quite good. One of the best mountain coasters I've ever been on (and I've been on alot). There are some hiking trails at the top. And the place seemed to be quite popular with mountain bike riders. The Revelstoke Train Museum was pretty good. Not the best we've ever been to but had a good history of the trains in the area. If they are going to keep you awake at night you might as well learn about them :)
