Tip for Other Campers:
Riverkern General Store is nearby to get necessities and great food. Also, Kernville is a short drive away where there is fuel, groceries, bars, shopping, parks, frozen yogurt, coffee, all in an old-west style.

Tip for Other Campers:
Hwy 178 (from Bakersfield) up the Kern River Canyon is narrow and twisty. No problem for our 26 ft Via but be advised.

Tough to get to if one is not used to driving in the mountains. The kids spend ALL their time in the water, that looked at times like a lake. It looked abandoned (yay!), no cell phone reception...

Bring lots of ice because it can get really hot. There is a little convenience store within walking distance to get cold beer.
