Reasonably close to Yosemite and Merced River. Mariposa is a nice small town to visit and has good restaurants and decent grocery shopping.

Get up very early if you want a parking space at Yosemite Valley. We arrived at 8:30 AM and the lots were 3/4 full. We went to the Valley on Monday and Tuesday mornings. Monday was extremely busy.

Tip for Other Campers:
This campground is approximately 30 miles from the entrance to Yosemite on Hwy 140. Unfortunately, there was a rock slide a few days before we arrived, closing that entrance. We had to go all the way around through the town of Oakhurst; a little less than a 2 hour trip at 7 AM. It would be longer later in the day or on the weekend. Happy Burger-fast food...

Tip for Other Campers:
The Happy Burger restaurant in Mariposa has a big menu and great wifi. We went there several times to get some food and work online. The Pioneer Market is a fabulous grocery store with reasonable prices.
