“No frills but absolutely beautiful”
Nightly Rate: $50 USD
This park overlooks the Eel River and is surrounded by majestic views. It is definately a "basic" park. There is no camp store, play structure, pool, etc but it is definately a value worthy property....

Tip for Other Campers:
The Avenue of the Giants is a must! Eureka is the closest "big city" about 20 - 30 minutes away. Ferndale (20 minutes north) has a cool little downtown with shops and restaurants. There are plenty of hiking trails. I didn't see too much fishing but it may be late in the season (Aug/Sep)
“Beautiful View of the Eel River”

Beautiful view and direct access to the Eel River. We only stayed 2 nights but would have enjoyed more. The sites were grass/gravel and level. Hook-ups were well placed and in great condition. We...

Tip for Other Campers:
The Eel River Brewing Company in Fortuna was a great find. Hiking galore within 10 miles. And the river access at the campground is awesome!
Tips from campers about River's Edge RV Park
- LATrvlr There are two entrances to the park from the interstate. One slightly south, one slightly north. The route two and from the north exit crosses over the dam and passes by the fish hatchery which have good views of the area and a nice scenic road.5 days ago Persimmon Hill Campground
- J and K Kreth Almost all sites are pretty close to level. There's a small playground, but at least in late March, there are mostly fishing campers.1 week ago Wallace Creek Campground
- Michael_498 Access to the campground from exit 233 is currently closed if you go west. Was told could get there by going east but I went to the south exit from the interstate.3 months ago Persimmon Hill Campground

Agree with the other reviewers. This is an older park on the edge of a small town. Many of the other RVs look like they are long-term but the place is very tidy. We did not use the bathroom or laundry...

Avenue of the Giants is just south of here and we enjoyed the day down there hiking on different loops and enjoying the magical for us. We also spent a day in Arcata which seems to have a lot going on and some great restaurants. We hiked up in the Arcata community forest and enjoyed it very much.
