Nightly Rate: $5 USD
The road coming from the south was a bit rough until you entered the National Monument boarder. The campground was pretty nice for a first come and for the price. Bathrooms were clean and flush...

Tip for Other Campers:
Lots of fun exploring the caves. Bring flashlights. We wore our bike helmets but they do have some to use at the visitor's center. Good sturdy shoes also needed. They have caves with various difficulties. We didn't choose the ones we needed to crawl through.
“Incredible views”

The park is truly unique. The campground was perfect to operate for a couple of days. We camped at Lava Beds National Monument - Indian Wells Campground in a Truck Camper.

Tip for Other Campers:
Be at the Visitor Center (walking distance from the campground) as soon it opens if you wish to participate in a ranger-led FCFS cave tour. The tour when we were there filled as soon as the Visitor Center opened with day-trippers. Many caves are closed during the summer for nesting bats check before you go.

Good campsite separation but no hookups. We stayed B23 which got afternoon shade. Note that while there is an electricity box and water tap there we were told that they are off-limits and we would be...
