“Nicely renovated in 2023 or 24”
Nightly Rate: $28 USD
This is my first stay after the renovations and they have done a nice job with it. The homeless people are still gone now and the new bathrooms are clean. The sites are nicely redone. I have a 35 DP...

“Updated review for 2023”
Nightly Rate: $38 USD
This park has undergone a lot of changes over the years. Once a free campground, now it's designated paid sites. Probably a good choice because people were taking advantage of this campground and I...

Tip for Other Campers:
Salida used to be a mysterious town and has an interesting history of debauchery. It's since had an economic rejuvenation. Worth wandering downtown, where there are lots of shops and great restaurants. We highly recommend going to Chill for some ice cream and then walking by the river. Salida East Campground is near a few national forests, so tons of...

- tbm1997164 If you enjoy hiking Vogel Canyon is an interesting place to go. Bent's Fort is a must do. Seeing the trail where the pioneers traveled is always overwhelming; the Sierra Vista Overlook has a trail that you can hike that runs along the Santa Fe Trail.6 months ago La Junta KOA Journey
- rvlife_63f553263d458 Be sure to go to Bents Old Fort and the local museums. If you come in September or October, look for the tarantulas. Also, try to get on the Picket Wire tour of the worlds largest dinosaur tracks6 months ago La Junta KOA Journey

Rincon Campground is further down Highway 50
The site is FREE as of Oct 2016, but that will probably change. Two different stays (July 2016, Sept 2016. July stay had a Camp Host who kept an eye on things, Sept no camp host. Homeless tent campers...

Tip for Other Campers:
Use sewer dump($7) in Poncha Springs at the Visitor center (Hwy 50 and Hwy 285 intersection, look for small blue signs pointing the way) and they have a potable water spigot (winterized) on the side of the building by the dump site labeled "Donation $5". Sewer dump at Forest Service Office on Hwy 50 is closer, but more expensive$10, computer credit card...

We stayed in our Tent for 14 days and had a great time visiting the local area each day. There were a couple of times we had noisy neighbors late at night. The campground is right next to HWY. 52...

Tip for Other Campers:
Salida is only a couple miles for camp. Lots of cafes and places to get groceries, Walmart, Safeway, etc. Lots to see and do around the local area, Monarch Pass and so on. Well worth your time.
