“Lovely fall colors ”
Nightly Rate: $70 USD
The back-in site we had was easy to get into, close to the bath house and large enough that we were not tripping over neighbors. The fall colors were a delight and the road in was quaint and charming....

“Late season camping. ”
Nightly Rate: $55 USD
Maintenance of bathrooms and showers at the main building was disappointing. Their cafe was closed for the season, but looked like it had been a popular feature. We had a nice site along the pond......

We enjoyed a very good dinner at one of the "Fish Tale" restaurants along US 1.
Tips from campers about Riverdale Farm Campsites
- Kcee1969 I would suggest going to look at your assigned site first.2 years ago Riverdale Farm Campsites
- Jon and Laura Zeliff While we were here, we went to Hartford and enjoyed a meal at Taste of India. Afterwards, we drove around Hartford and went to the beautiful State Capitol - probably the prettiest state capitol we've seen. We went to Elizabeth Conservancy and Park, Mark Twain House and Museum, Capital Ice Cream (it was very yummy) and then just drove around checking out the nice homes and church buildings. Connecticut is lush, green with thick foliage and trees. Had our first lobster roll on the East Coast at the Lobster Landing - it was delicious! Lobster, butter, lemon and a soft roll! We took the Sea Mist, Thimble Island Cruise - it's a 45 minute tour of the Thimble Islands in the Long Island Sound. A very enjoyable slow cruise looking at all the Islands and the homes on the islands. We also went to Gillette Castle State Park - very cool. We took the Chester Hadlyme Ferry across the Connecticut River to get to and from the Castle - only $5 each way, or you can drive around. The Castle was built in 1919 by William Hooker Gillette, an actor, director and innovative state/set designer. The home has 47 wooden doors, all individually designed. The castle is all stacked stone and so beautifully and theatrically designed - it sits on top of the hill overlooking the Connecticut River - absolutely worth the visit and the $6 fee to tour the inside of the Castle. After visiting the Castle we took a 2 1/2 hour combination steam train and riverboat ride along and on the Connecticut River - Essex Steam Train and Riverboat. Pretty relaxing. Overall, we once again enjoyed visiting a state that was new to us.9 months ago Riverdale Farm Campsites
- mattesonmd Gillette Castle (7 Sister Estate) is less than 20 miles from the campground; tour done by reservation, and reservations can be made online. Hammomasset Beach State Park is approximately 2.5 miles from campground. Shanks and Lobster Landing are two good places for seafood in Clinton. On the waterfront. Gas and diesel are available at several locations nearby. Cliff's Meat Market, located in Essex has great meat.9 months ago Riverdale Farm Campsites

“A Decent Stay”
Nightly Rate: $55 USD
Our experience at Riverdale Farm campground was mixed. Some sites have long-term or permanent residents while other sites are typical for short stay campers like us. Site conditions vary quite a bit...

“Overnight Stay”

Just an overnight to have dinner with some friends. Very nice park, however if you need bath house facilities (Showers specifically) they are not that impressive. Nearly outdoor facilities. Overall,...
