Tips from campers about Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
- Brent077 Lots of walks, something like 70 miles worth of them. We walked Pinnacle Outlook (4miles) The Gap (1.2 miles) Tri State (an extra 1 mile or so from The Gap) And the Honey Spur trail (1.5 or so) Short drive to the visitor Park Visitor centre.... They were very very helpful.

Tip for Other Campers:
The park has a north walking boardwalk where you can see numerous alligators lying in the sun. Also we saw wild horses behind the visitors center. There are a couple of fishing piers and a boat ramp. Bathhouse is very nice.

Be sure to go to the Visitor Center where you can learn about the park. A volunteer will help you find areas that you are interested in visiting at the park. The observation tower near the Visitor Center is a must. Some days you can see the wild horses and a variety of birds. It's best to have binoculars or a spotting scope. The best trail for viewing...
