“This park is about to get a reno. It was still a nice visit.”
Nightly Rate: $20 USD
We stayed at site 24, right across from one of the two bath houses. It was a snug fit with our 30ft camper but it was still okay. Semi-private. Campground was pretty quiet. We camped at Dr. Julian G....

“Very nice, pretty campground ”
Nightly Rate: $31 USD
This is a very nice campground that has a good "feel" to it. Even though the campground was full, it was very quiet. Most sites have trees and vegetation. The showerhouse was clean. The host was...

Tip for Other Campers:
OF course, you will visit the beautiful beach. The town of Apalachicola shouldn't be missed. It is quirky and lively during the spring season. There is an independent book store, a couple of good art galleries, a local brewery and a historic district with lovely homes to gaze at. The best grocery store in the area is in Apalachicola, The Piggly Wiggly.
Tips from campers about Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park
- johnpflum Higher numbered sites back up to the dunes, have a more pleasant back view and you can hear the ocean. Trail at end of campground that leads to bay (grat place to wade and fish) and a long hiking trail out to the primitive camping area. Excellent fishing! We caught flounder, red fish, and most abundantly, speckled trout. Very shallow water with slow tides and can use waders. Just after the bridge and as you first come on to St. George Island, there are two nicely stocked small groceries and a few restaurants that all offer carry out and some have outdoor dining. Don't miss Weber's donuts (check seasonal schedule). We used Sprint/T-mobile phones and only had 1 to 2 bars but had excellent internet speeds using our phones as a hot spot. Prepaid Verizon data plan on a jet pack with a MiMo antenna could not produce usable internet speeds likely due to busy cell towers.
- Jjbrennan83 Beach! Beach! And more Beach! Dinner at the Blue Parrot! Spend a day shopping in Apalachicola.
- Poe Dog On the island, proximately 8 miles is a Piggly Wiggly Xpress, which is well stocked and items are reasonably priced. If you are in the market for fresh seafood, try Captain seafood truck. It is usually parked near the lighthouse seafood is fresh and reasonably priced. If you if you venture into Appalachiacola, eat at the hole in the wall for good food and an interesting atmosphere. There is a brewery next-door as well.

“Nice and quiet, friendly staff and a beautiful beach.”

Restrooms are clean, but somewhat outdated. Set to be remodeled this year. The beach is magnificent, and rated one of the top 10 beaches in the country. Hard to get a spot, but worth the effort. Good...
