  Nancyw680 Andersonville National Historic Site is about a 25-minute drive from the RV park. The POW museum is free, but they do ask for donations. For a fee, you can download an audio guide that you can listen to as you drive through what was the prison and the Cemetery grounds. The Georgia Rural Telephone Museum is about 4 miles from Americus KOA. It has a huge collection of telephones and telephone equipment dating from the 1870s to the late 20th century. It’s well worth an hour, or two, of your time. It’s free, but they do ask for donations. Plains, Georgia, is about a ½ hour drive from Americus KOA. Stop in at the Plains Visitor’s Center on the way, and they will give you a map of the area. The map includes directions to Jimmy Carter’s boyhood home, the train station where he held his presidential campaign, Billy Carter’s gas station, and several other attractions.
