Tips from campers about Palomar, JAL
- ARDean Groesbeck has a few good restaurants, check out the Sale Barn/Billy B's Cafe - open Wed-Sun, Los Pepes Open Wed-Sun, & a few good food trucks, Chick-fil-A comes once a week on Thursdays, Tejun Cajun comes once a month, but also hits Mexia as well once a month. Mexia has a few as well check out Mexicano Grill #4 - open Mon-Sun, the Farmhouse Mon-Sat, Also Tejun Cajun (see above) Wortham has 1 GREAT restaurant, called the Old Gin located in an old cotton gin, Open Wed-Mon As far as things to see: Ft Parker is right across the street (1860s style frontier fort, where Cynthia Ann Parker was kidnaped by the Comanches, later on marrying Comanche Chief Peta Nocona, giving birth to one of the most well-known Comanche Chiefs, Quannah Parker) Ft Parker State Park is about a mile down the road, offers canoe rentals and is part of the Texas Paddling trail. Confederate Reunion Grounds, a meeting spot from 1889 - 1946 where Confederate Veterans and their families held reunions. Mexia State Supported Living Center - began as a POW camp for members of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps during WWII, they have a neat little museum, that takes about 10 mins, but worth a look! Booker T Washington Park - A Historic Site which serves as the Annual Juneteenth festivities. (if you're here in June, consider attending, no better place to celebrate it, than in the state it was founded in! visitlimestonecountytx.com/2 years ago Fort Parker RV Park
