Minden is a good sized city and has lots to offer. Shreveport isnt too far also.

Tip for Other Campers:
Theres not a gate or booth at the entrance. You are inside the National Forest. Turn left to the campground at the sign. You prepaid, so you dont need to stop here. The host has your site reserved with your name. He came by after we were settled.
