We had a spot in the corner which allowed for privacy. A lot of sites are close together. They have upgraded the roads, camp store and bathrooms in this campground. It all appears to be brand new....

Tip for Other Campers:

Bar Harbor can be challenging for parking. Some great local seafood eateries. You need a timed reservation pass for Cadillac mountain access. Diesel can be .35 cents less if you look around.

Tips from campers about Hadley's Point Campground

  • Bert Rooster A couple of things to note: the Island Express bus makes a stop near the office every hour from about 8:00 am - 7:00 pm. This is the absolute best way and hassle free way to see Bar Harbor. The bus goes to Acadia NP Visitor Center where other routes will take you into the park, to town, or north off of Desert Island. Second there is a lobster pound and a winery just across the highway from the RV park road (not walking distance, but a very short drive). We rode the Island Express buses all over Desert Island - to Bar Harbor, to Acadia NP, and up to Ellsworth (L.L. Bean outlet store). The Rose Eden lobster pound had a boiled lobster meal for 2 that came in just under $40 - best deal on the Maine coast. Be sure to go on the Whale & Puffin watching tour - worth every penny of the $63/per person fee (it lasted about 6 hours). Plan to spend a couple of days touring Acadia NP, there's lots to see.
  • CyndiT RVs seem to best suited for sections B&D and if you stay on the perimeter, you should have some shade and/or privacy. The middle is open field, so full sun.
  • Bill_101 Whale watching was one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed our visit to Atlantic Brewing Company and Mainely Meat. Of course, there are lobster pounds all around. We enjoyed shopping and eating at several spots in Bar Harbor and even went to Ellsworth for a Mexican night at Casa Jalisco.

We did not take the shuttle bus to Acadia but wish we had. Parking was really difficult. If you want to eat at Jordan Pond, make reservations and take the shuttle!

Park is fine. Very friendly but emphasized at check in that you CANNOT leave your pet in your RV if you want to go sightsee. Main gripe is the campsites are not level. I used 4 blocks under each front...

Tip for Other Campers:

When cruise ship is in the place is mobbed. Very touristy in town. Acadia Visitors center parking lot fills up very early in the morning
