“Spacious campsites in wooded area”
Nightly Rate: $37 USD
My campsite was quite spacious. The campground is nicely wooded. Many of the campsites have a small path to the bathhouse. There were hardly any other campers there when I camped there. The hike to...

“Very Pleasant and Quiet Park”
Nightly Rate: $16 USD
This campground is not large and only has a few sites with hookups. The sites are generally nice and most are well shaded. Easy hikes down by the falls with lots of day use people there for the hike,...

Tip for Other Campers:
If you have a larger rig and GPS wants to take you down Sang Run Rd., I would suggest that you keep going down 219 and the GPS should take you in by Mayhew Inn Rd, which does not have as many tight S turns.

- MargaretL 1. We traveled with a dog and dogs are not allowed in the day use areas or on the trail, only the campground; however, dogs are allowed in all areas but the beach at the sister park of Herrington Manor. With or without a dog, the sister park is worth visiting and is the closest location with cell service. 2. The nearby historic town of Oakland is worth a visit. There is a free little library, a new and used book store (in an old boxcar), 2 museums, and a few local shops and restaurants. No cell service there either (Verizon). 3. If traveling from east to west, don't take route 50, take route 48. It's faster, easier, more scenic. Be sure to stop in Thomas for lunch at The Purple Fiddle (just 30 minutes away from Swallow Falls), visit the art shops and bookstore, ride the bike trail in Thomas to Douglas Falls, visit nearby Blackwater Falls State Park (also has a nice campground but not all sites are level and no full hookups, but you can a bike from the campground to the trail head for the falls). 4. If you are 62 or older be sure to get a Golden Age pass for discounts at MD state parks. Purchase ahead of time, before making a reservation. During the middle of the week, discounts can be as high as 50%. Card is only $10.3 years ago Swallow Falls State Park
- nofigleaf The hiking trails are the only activity, so it's great for a quiet walk around. Good for leashed dogs.4 years ago Swallow Falls State Park

“Old growth forestcampsites need some tweeking”
Nightly Rate: $35 USD
Campground was mostly tent sites, a few large enough for truck campers were small ( 25) trailers. Not a lot of space between sites. Sites 40, 42 & 42A only are full hookup. Site 42 was a bit...

We stayed three nights on a full hook-up site in a 25' Phoenix Cruiser Motorhome. There are a 3 sites with full hook ups, some primitive, some with electric only. There is a dump station and lots of...

Beautiful wooded campground. Well maintained. Electric at site. Water available at site. No WiFi. I can't recall if there was cell coverage. Typical state or federal campground; thankfully not a KOA....
