Tips from campers about Starlight Campground and RV Park

  • KevinIrish We did a lot of driveing from here: - Boyd, south end of Lake Charlevoix. Pretty town with amazing garden club that did flowers everywhere. latte in Lake Charlevoix Coffee Co. Beautiful homes along the lake, very well cared- for. Took the cable ferry in Ironton across a short inlet to Charlevoix for $3.00. - Charlevoix is touristy but very pretty too. Big ferry line with names like Shamrock takes people to Beaver Island from the dock, about 14 miles. Lunch at Scovies Bistro & Deli, we did take out. Active draw bridge, walked under the bridge to the Red Lighthouse at the end of the channel. - Drive down Torch Lake to Alden, another nice small town with a little harbor. Torch Lake had many shades of blue from different depths. - Cherry St Market, Kalkaska, a farmers market.
  • Zyt Bojacks bakery, iron skillet restaurant .close to traverse city, Alden,Bellaire, central lake. Many local vegetable stands
  • Bencarole Charlevoix (Thursday Farmers Market, Mushroom Houses), Harbor Springs (Tunnel of Trees, Pond Hill Farm winery), Boyne City (Lavender Hill Farm and Boyne Mountain sky bridge), Petoskey, Traverse City (Sleeping Bear Dunes NP, Gabrs Market-smoked brats, etc. off M72 west), Kalkaska City (Cherry St. Market). A favorite potter is Ottis Pottery in East Jordan on M66. Gaylord (Elk Herd Viewing), Leelanau Peninsula - Leland Fish Town. Bellaire (the Grass River Nature Trail, Bellaire Smoke House-bacon, brats, fish). This wonderful list was given to us by Nancy Bennett. Walmart, Meijers, TJ Maxx, Menards and many other stores are a short distance away in Gaylord.
