“We stayed in late October. It was quiet, beautiful and serene. ”

You could hear a pin drop! If you like being surrounded by woods and not people this is perfect. We camped at Mille Lacs Kathio State Park in a Motorhome.

Bathrooms and dump station were closed but there was a dump station in the nearest town

TONS (and yes I mean that) of deerflies and mosquitoes. Deet does NOT work on deerflies. Standing water in MANY areas of campground provides breeding ground for mosquitoes. If you have dogs, they will...

Tip for Other Campers:
Two Kathio pluses, one in the park and one outside. The park has an outstanding interpretive center. Lots to see and do. Would be great for kids. Just outside the park is the Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post in Mille Lacs. It has has lovely items for sale and display. And when we were there, the museum offered a half-day birchbark basketmaking...

Tips from campers about Mille Lacs Kathio State Park
- Joseph R Hunt When going to the campground from HY 70 if heading west go past Camping World store a short distance and you will see a sign on the left for the campground. The campground office is located in the service center.
- Limitless It is easy to drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and go to any number of overlooks or trails that you wish. Always lovely.
- indygary You need to check out "Smokey Ques" BBQ, great food, hush puppies, best I've ever had.
