- James Barr Battenkill River along the campground has a few spots for swimming and tubing. We found the water to be on the chilly side. The Roaring Branch is much warmer. Best to avoid Shaftsbury Lake for swimming. Apparently the lake is a good spot to acquire swimmer's itch.8 months ago Camping on the Battenkill

“Beautiful spot on Current River”

Easy pull through sites. Sites on river are back in. 50 amp service, water and sewer hookup. Firewood $6 a bundle. Quiet and simple. No amenities. Self contained RV only. No bathrooms or showers....
