Meg & Tom B Alvarado doesn't offer much but fast food, but Burleson has a lot of good restaurants, shopping and grocery stores. We took a day trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Refuge and Dinasaur State Park, and enjoyed both. I'd recommend the guided tour at Fossil Rim; you get a lot of information about the animals and get to hand-feed the giraffes (if they're around).
