We had to check in with the Camphost. I had made a reservation and told her we were in site 7. She didnt check, just handed me an internet password and pointed to our site. As we had site #7, and...

Tip for Other Campers:

We enjoyed the Scotts Bluff Visitors Center, its small. Museum and roadway to the top and 2 corresponding trails. There is also a bike path to the VC, but you do have to travel 1mile on the street. The Legacy of the Plains (near the Monument) and its addition museum depicting the Japanese emigrant who came to Nebraska in the early 20th Century were very well...

This smallish campground is next to the Platte River, in view of the historic Bluffs, and is next to a small zoo! I stayed one peaceful night (except for a few Peacock squawks!) with full hookups, and...

Tips from campers about Riverside Campground

  • Mrs. Groover You will not get cell service in the campground but can up by the lake. Other
  • ouachita princess We stayed here to bike the Raccoon River Valley Rail Trail.
  • Mrs. Groover We had 3 dogs with us and they enjoyed walks and meeting other campers. We went into Guthrie Center, the closest small town to eat at. The Prime Time is a diner by day and more steakhouse by night. We all got the lunch special which was a pork loin dinner complete with meat, gravy, real mashed potatoes, salad, roll ,and drink. The waitress was so friendly, fun, and helpful! The other place to eat is Cafe on the Hill which is on the east end of town. It has probably 10 tables which fill fast for lunch, as their specialty everyday is a hot beef sandwich over mashed potatoes and gravy plus a roll. Guthrie Center is a quaint town with many old homes, and a 4 block long main street. I have to mention the Hometown grocery store with good prices, and awesome meat selections.

Riverside City Park is a fairly large complex with a campground. If you just want a low cost park without extra amenities, besides hookups, which is what we look for, this is a good enough...

Tip for Other Campers:

The Legacy of the Plains Museum is well worth a visit. Be sure to ask them to play the antique tin disc music box for you. Also visit the separate machine building with old tractors, cars and trucks, and farm implements, as well as a display of literally hundreds of different types of barbed/razor wire.

Tip for Other Campers:

Definitely worth taking the short drive to Scotts Bluff National Monument. It's about five files with a museum and gift shops. Plenty of parking at the top and easy trails to the summit. Outstanding vistas and views of the entire area.
