Small (10 campsites), first come first serve campground. Fills up early in the day - we arrived at 3 pm and got the last campsite during hunting season. Restroom did have water but was not very clean....

Nice little campground. We stayed for 2 nights and it was very quiet. It is unfortunate that people are so irresponsible. Someone left a large mattress in the bushes at one site. Sites are not level...

Tips from campers about Bob Scott Campground

  • James_64ee192d4dde6 Explore the wilderness. Rent a side by side. Go on hikes. Get outside and do things!
  • Euge If you go, you should rent an ATV for the day or two to explore the many trails in the area. Don't expect a lot of good places to eat. Call ahead to see if what they have on the menu is available. Also, call ahead to even see if they are open. We wanted to check out this coffee shop but found out it was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Huh? Cafe's close on those days?
  • Mark Virginia We rented a UTV and rode two great trails; the Mackay Mining trail which takes you to various old mining sites, and the Lost River trail which take your through the "Enchanted Forrest." Cost for the UTV was about $375 for all day, but it was well worth it. You go up into the mountains with some amazing views. Just need to be careful and stay on the trail. Also visited one of the few intact Gold Dredges in the lower 48. Volunteers tell you all about the dredge. There's also a ghost town about a mile from the Dredge. You are also close to Stanley. Drive was beautiful as the highway follows the Salmon river from Challis to Stanley. We also visited the Experimental Breeder Reactor (Decommissioned but first Nuclear Breeder Reactor in US). Very interesting and its free. Also went to Craters of the Moon and explored volcanic ruins including Lava tunnels/caves. Wear hiking shoes, bring water and flashlight. It was hot the day we did it.

We stayed in site #2 - fairly level, dirt back in site with a new picnic table, new grill, fire pit and some privacy. This was a good site. Interior roads are dirt and pretty rough. There is a...

Tip for Other Campers:

We did notice a parking lot on the other side of 50 and it appeared that 2 large RVs had stayed there overnight. If you can't get into Bob Scott maybe you are allowed to use that lot.

Only a few larger sites. Dusty if it is a windy day. We camped at Bob Scott Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The spaces were very spread out. Not many large enough for RV especially if you have a large vehicle. There were new tables, grills and fire pits.. All looked brand new. There is a large group area...
