“Secluded campground near Cumbres &Toltec railroad”

We stayed here 2 nights, only 15 minutes from Chama and the railroad. Nice spacious campsites. Nice to hiking around the lake. Sites are on a bluff above the lake. We camped at Heron Lake State Park...

We were just traveling through so this was a great place to rest overnight. Enjoyed walking around the campground.

“Quiet and very peaceful”

Nice State Park, but this is northern NM so mostly scrub, dirt, rocks. Nice trails. A few FHU, 30 amp sites. We camped at Heron Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tip for Other Campers:
Very few places to eat , come stocked. Small grocery in Chama. Nearest WM is Pagosa Springs CO. Quiet wooded sites. Having water issues while there,, so bring full water tanks. Some days we had water all day, some only from 4-6 PM.
