There's a lot of hiking and we definitely recommed going to see Rainbow Falls in Minnewaska State Park. The trails were great on the trek to the falls. We went up to the upper parking lot at Minnewaska another day and the trails were packed. Still a beautiful hike, though. Recommend going into New Palz through the Mohonk Preserve. It's a gorgeous drive....

Very pretty area of the Hudson Valley. We drove an hour or so to Sleepy Hollow and Hyde Park.

Tip for Other Campers:
Coming here in October was ideal. It was not too hot nor too cold and the leaves were starting to change. Hiking in the local state park was fun.
It was not too far from New Paultz, but head in there early as the roads are a bit challenging at night.

Tip for Other Campers:
The Minnewaska State Preserve had great hiking and biking trails, most areas are dog friendly. About a half an hour away, in Poughkeepsie, is the Walkway over the Hudson. This is also dog friendly, however, it's all cement and no shade, so on warm sunny days I'd think twice about bringing your pooch.
