“what a great place to camp to visit the area”

The park was a pretty standard state park but what a great location for visiting the area. We camped at Watkins Glen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips from campers about Watkins Glen State Park
- xarmoreddriver If you need a longer site request one on lower level. We are long and still had room in front and rear of tractor and rig. Did not explore so can't say what's in this area to visit except Warm Springs Ranch near Boonville where the beer company breeds and raises their Clydesdales. Very informative plus free beer (2 per person sigh). And you can take all the pictures you want and even pet one mammoth horse and see the babies. - Qsan C Higginsville is so pretty. We enjoyed a great meal at Generations Cafe where everything is homemade. Their pie(s) are delish! Go for lunch, they close at 2pm but stay open later on Thurs and Fridays. The local Tractor Supply was a true lifesaver and the employees are top notch. We stayed at site 69 in Mohawk Village which is an electric loop. The site had a wooded ravine on one side so it was more private with only one site next to site 69. The water spigot was very close...

Watkins Glen State Park is an amazing place that shouldn't be missed! The deep gorge is awe inspiring. Robert Treman state park near Ithaca is also beautiful and amazing. There are three ice cream shops in Watkins Glen.

Hike the Gorge trail. Take a boat ride on the lake. Go to the race track, brewery, wineries.

Tip for Other Campers:
We liked town of Watkins Glen, had dinner at Nickels Pit BBQ. Best onion rings ever plus enjoyed brisket and ribs. Visited the WG International speedway for a pic and then tried to see Aunt Sarahs Waterfall ( no water ).Next day we visited 3 of the Finger Lake wineries - Hazelitt, Hector and Flatt Rock (yum and bought 2 bottles of wine ).
