Tip for Other Campers:
The Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain, Wilmington area is a nature/outdoor lovers dream! There are numerous hiking trails, scenic drives, fishing, etc. We visited during the peak of fall color and it was outstanding. The John Brown home historical site is also nearby for history buffs. Lake Placid is very touristy but offers many restaurants.

Lake Placid Olympic Jumping Complex unexpectedly very entertaining watching skiers training and jumping; recommend gondola ride to high ski platform and elevator to ski tower for panoramic views of Adirondack region.
