Tip for Other Campers:
Look for the flags on the east side of route 12. Located just north of the KOA. 1.6 miles south of the house in the movie Nights in Rodanthe. Small town not nearly as built up as the towns further north. Coming in over the bridges into Rodanthe is great - just keep an eye out for the sea birds.

- mooreadventures From this location you are pretty much in the middle of the outer banks. Travel north to nags Head and kill devil hills... Be sure to visit the wright Brothers museum and jockeys ridge. Continue north to Currituck to the Currituck lighthouse, and see the wild horses in Corolla. Travel south to Cape Hatteras to the lighthouse, and take the ferry over to Ocracoke Island.4 years ago Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground
- Warder42 There is only one road running the length of island chain so on weekends expect traffic and plenty of it. This park is fairly low down the chain so there is some stuff (restaurants, surf shop, rental equipment) close by. However the major tourist attraction area is about 40 minutes north on a different island where the mini golf and other family attractions are all grouped. Kitty Hawk where the Wright brothers first flew is a park up in that area. Roanoke Island is 25 minutes or so away (where the first English baby was born on American soil, those people disappeared from their colony leaving only the word Croatoa behind, and the Civil War had a small battle and one of the Freedman townships was started. A number of things were closed early or not open Monday / Tuesday because of issues getting employees so not sure if that is just a covid thing or there not being many locals around the OBX to take the jobs.4 years ago Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground

Another RV park that claims to be a "Resort". The reality is that this is a nice RV park, especially in the off season when its almost empty. It looks like it could be really crowded in peak season....

Tip for Other Campers:
We tried to go to take the ferry to Ocracoke Island. BE AWARE there are no reservations and the wait can be hours. We showed up at 12:50 pm, were told we were too late to get on the 1:00 AND were too late for the 2:00pm ferry! But we could get in line for the 3:00 ferry.
