We have camped at Fairfield's since I was a young child, so well over 15 years! This year we noticed it going downhill!! The washrooms are fairly clean except for the floor that is constantly soaking...

In our 10 years of camping and RVing, I don't think we've ever been treated so badly. We rented 3 sites for our group, over a weekend. The park is quite nice in terms of landscaping, and the...

Tips from campers about Fairfield's Resort

  • James_64ee192d4dde6 Explore the wilderness. Rent a side by side. Go on hikes. Get outside and do things!
  • Euge If you go, you should rent an ATV for the day or two to explore the many trails in the area. Don't expect a lot of good places to eat. Call ahead to see if what they have on the menu is available. Also, call ahead to even see if they are open. We wanted to check out this coffee shop but found out it was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Huh? Cafe's close on those days?
  • Mark Virginia We rented a UTV and rode two great trails; the Mackay Mining trail which takes you to various old mining sites, and the Lost River trail which take your through the "Enchanted Forrest." Cost for the UTV was about $375 for all day, but it was well worth it. You go up into the mountains with some amazing views. Just need to be careful and stay on the trail. Also visited one of the few intact Gold Dredges in the lower 48. Volunteers tell you all about the dredge. There's also a ghost town about a mile from the Dredge. You are also close to Stanley. Drive was beautiful as the highway follows the Salmon river from Challis to Stanley. We also visited the Experimental Breeder Reactor (Decommissioned but first Nuclear Breeder Reactor in US). Very interesting and its free. Also went to Craters of the Moon and explored volcanic ruins including Lava tunnels/caves. Wear hiking shoes, bring water and flashlight. It was hot the day we did it.
