Tips from campers about Tri-City, OR

  • Wellfooled Recreation Station in Reedsport has the best broasted chicken on the OR coast, maybe W. coast, maybe both coasts, hands down. Don't miss. And whether you go N. for Oregon Dunes National Rec Area, Florence OR, the Darlingtonia Californica State site (look it up), the Sealion caves, and Heceta Head lighthouse, or S. for the Umpqua lighthouse, Spinreel Dune Buggy Rentals, and Coos Bay, you will be treated to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, bar none.
  • TomE The park is on a finger of land that juts out into the bay, so it's surround by water except on one side. Plenty of restaurants near by. There is a public crabbing pier about 1/4 mile toward the ocean. There is access to the Oregon Dunes about 1/2 mile away, and just a bit further is the Umpqua Bay lighthouse. The town of Reedsport is just a few miles north on Hwy. 101 with some nice restaurants and good antique shopping. There is a regional chainsaw carving contest every father's day. South of Winchester Bay, about 20 miles is the North Bend/Coos Bay area with more restaurants, two casino's and access to some spectacular coastal sites like Shore Acres State Park, Sunset Beach and the Charleston Boat Basin.
  • Blackfish Easy walk to light house, or even the sand dunes area.
