“Glorious boondocking experience ”

Beautiful and spacious no hookups experience. Great hiking on premises and nearby. Lots of waterfowl and a few gators. We camped at Santee Coastal Reserve in a Travel Trailer.

Tip for Other Campers:
Lots said on other posts about a very sharp turn onto Santee Gun Club Road but State Rd S-10-857 slightly farther up Highway 17 (there is a sign pointing to the Hampton Preston Historical Site) which allows an easy left turn onto Santee Gun Club Road. Go in early spring or after first frost as (HEY it IS coastal SC) the mosquitoes can be bad.

- More2ThisLife Before turning onto Santee Gun Club Rd., there is a shortcut before the road. Use this shortcut if you have a trailer of any sort, as the main road is too sharp of a turn. Continue traveling down the road to my GPS coords to the campground.4 years ago Santee Coastal Reserve

Arrived at the reserve to find the road blocked and a sign announcing a turkey hunt. Appears the entire park closes when there is an organized hunt, which is smart, but nothing on the website...
